Members/History

The GCA has historically been fundamental to the development, support, sustainability and leadership of the arts and cultural industry in Georgia. The GCA is the primary conduit through which the state allocation of funds budgeted by the General Assembly and matching funds from the National Endowment for the Arts are distributed throughout the state to local arts councils, nonprofit arts organizations and artists. The GCA grants not only provide direct support to the arts in Georgia, but the award of a grant acts as a seal of approval leveraging additional support through donations and ticket sales from the public, gifts and sponsorships from the corporate community and funding from a diverse array of foundations that support the arts.

The following links will provide you with an overview and understanding of our state arts agency and its value as we collectively pursue the public awareness and advocacy actions that will help restore and increase arts funding, bring back arts education and traditional arts programming and support its important role of leadership.
