Breaking News: Arts & Arts Educ. in early childhood education.

US Senate SealThe “Strong Start for America’s Children Act” has been introduced in the Senate. The early childhood education proposal is an initiative to expand and improve early learning opportunities for children from birth to age 5.

The legislation specifically mentions arts and arts education, listing “approaches to learning, including creative arts expression;” as one of the “Essential Domains of School Readiness.” Also, each State application shall include “how the State will encourage eligible local entities to coordinate with community based learning resources, such as libraries, arts and arts education programs, appropriate media programs, family literacy programs, public parks and recreation programs, museums, nutrition education programs, and programs supported by the Corporation for National and Community Service;”
