Restore State Art Funds – The Time is Now!

Reason 4. Loss of jobs, programs & Georgia’s arts nonprofits.

The loss of jobs, the loss of programs and the loss of arts organizations is the direct result of the 90% decrease in state arts funding. Georgia has experienced an estimated $16,000,000.00 loss of state arts funding. The indirect loss of matching funds and other financial support is incalculable.

The closing of venues, the dissolution of arts organizations, the loss of experienced arts administrators, the downsizing of staff, the cut backs and loss of arts programming and the lack of appeal to recent graduates to enter the field. These are the real consequences of the 90% cut in state arts funding.

Join us to persuade our elected officials the arts community is doing its part, but after four years and a 90% cut in arts funding, it is time for the Governor and state legislators to restore state arts funding so our artists, local arts organizations and our state arts council can thrive once again.
